The Hormetic Response of Soil P Extraction Induced by Low-Molecular-Weight Organic Acids

چکیده
The hormetic effect is a toxicological phenomenon in the soil ecosystem. influence of low-molecular-weight organic acids (LMWOAs) on release and activation phosphorus (P) has become focus research. To what extent LMWOAs can regulate P then nutrients worth attention. This study aimed to investigate effects different types concentrations exogenous extraction, establish relationship between concentration extraction efficiency, calculate parameters understand mechanism efficiency. Four acids, i.e., citric, oxalic, tartaric, malic induced that were dependent. efficiency was explained by quadratic polynomial equation. critical threshold citric acid similar oxalic acid, whereas tartaric acid. thresholds extracted higher than those due differences structure properties LMWOAs. lower other three types. These results provide evidence for use increase P.

Determination of organic acids of low molecular weight and phosphate in soil by capillary electrophoresis.
Capillary zone electrophoresis with indirect UV detection at 254 nm was found to be suitable for the determination of organic acids and phosphate in aqueous extracts of soil. The best support electrolyte solution was found to be 10 mM p-hydroxybenzoic acid with 0.5 mM tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide to reverse electroosmotic flow. This methodology was tested with 9 analytes found in soils: ...
متن کاملAn improved method for the extraction of low molecular weight organic acids in variable charge soils.
Due to specific adsorption to variable charge soils, low molecular weight organic acids (LMWOAs) have not been sufficiently extracted, even if common extractants, such as water and 0.1 M sodium hydroxide (NaOH), were employed. In this work, the method for extracting LMWOAs in soils with 0.1 M NaOH was improved for variable charge soils; e.g. 1.0 M potassium fluoride (KF) with pH 4.0 was applied...
متن کاملDifferential Effects of Low-Molecular-Weight Organic Acids on the Mobilization of Soil-Borne Arsenic and Trace Metals
A batch experiment was conducted to examine the effects of six low-molecular-weight organic acids on the mobilization of arsenic and trace metals from a range of contaminated soils. The results showed that the organic acids behaved differently when reacting with soil-borne As and trace metals. Oxalic acid and acetic acid had the strongest and weakest capacity to mobilize the investigated elemen...
متن کاملThe role of low molecular weight organic acids from decomposing rye in inhibiting root-knot nematode populations in soil
Organic soil amendments have been employed as an alternative to or in combination with, chemical nematicides and cultural practices to control plant-parasitic nematodes. Rye (Secale cereale L.) has been shown to be effective in minimizing the damage caused by root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) Chitwood) when grown as a cover crop and then incorporated into the soil pr...
متن کاملeffects of low-molecular weight organic acids on phosphorus sorption in some calcareous soils
the effect of 0, 2, and 5 mm of citric, malic and oxalic acids on phosphorus (p) sorption was evaluated. in the collected soils, the level of total calcium carbonate stood in the range of 4-28%, clay content at 33-56% and the amount of organic matter recorded within 0.6-2.7%. the results indicated that the addition of organic acids causes reduction in p sorption. citric acid in most soils, was ...
